Andrew Back in Action at Chuckwalla!

CVMA Race #3 May 28-29, 2011 at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway

It was round 3 of the inaugural Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association season and the weather was going to make it difficult. While the temperatures would be comfortable it was the high winds and dust clouds that would provide the challenge.

Coming off the broken wrist and missing WERA West at Buttonwillow Andrew was very ready to ride. He used the Friday trackday with TrackDaz to test his strength and determine he was fit to race the weekend.

Andrew's first race on Saturday was Supersport Twins where he got the holeshot on his West Coast GP Cycles Superstock spec CT Racing/Pirelli-shod SV650 and checked out for the win. By the time Formula Twins came around the winds had increased and there were dust clouds over some parts of the track. Andrew got a poor start and struggled with the difficult conditions, but persevered on to bring it home in 5th. Andrew was a little disappointed, but he shrugged it off and then took the holeshot in the Lightweight Team Challenge and pulled a 30 second gap on the field during his 30 minute stint before handing off to his partner Dustin Coyner who maintained the gap for the win.

On Sunday Andrew was in a fierce battle at the front in the Lightweight Shootout. The windy and dusty conditions worsened and the red flag came out leaving Andrew with the win. With this being only race 2 CVMA decided to cancel the rest of the races.

After the race this is what Andrew had to say, "I'm really bummed the races were cancelled. I was ready to race and the wind and dust really didn't bother me today. My wrist felt good and it was a fun weekend and I'm really happy we got our first win in the Team Challenge."

Andrew's next race: WERA West Round 5 at Miller Motorsports Park, June 18-19, 2011
